This weekend, our friends "Sierra Nevada Dog Drivers" are having the annual Chester Winterfest Sleddog Races in Chester CA, and next weekend it'll be the annual California Gold Mush in Portola CA.
Also next weekend, the Cascade Sleddog Club had scheduled their "Frog Lake II" race at Mt Hood OR. Unfortunately, just like Frog Lake I in January, it had to be canceled due to lack of snow. Better luck next year, guys!

Yukon Quest 2010
The first of the two long, long distance sled dog races of the season is getting underway today.
24 teams will run the trail from Fairbanks, AK for 991 miles (1594km) to Whitehorse, YT.
Last year's winner, Sebastian Schnülle, took 9 days and 23 hours to finish the race.
