We've known Sue Scofield for many years and have seen firsthand the good work she does with her "Stargazer Siberian Sanctuary" in Washington State. Please take a moment and read her story and, if you can, donate to save her sanctuary, so she can continue helping those Siberians in need.

Help replacing stolen donations for animal rescue

Our friend Gina runs Animal Crackers Pet Rescue in Laguna Beach CA. She pours her heart and soul, not to mention time and money, into giving dogs, cats, birds and many more animals a second or third chance at finding a great home. Our latest addition "Buddy" also came from Gina. This morning, someone stole the donation box for the rescue animals off her store counter! Please help trying to replace those donations and keep Gina's rescue efforts ongoing. Thank you very, very much!!!

UPDATE: it looks like "Buddy" did find a home, but if you contact Animal Crackers (see below) or any of the other rescue organizations on the right hand side of this blog, there are always more Huskies in need of forever homes.

This handsome boy is "Buddy", a one-year-old, neutered, black & white Siberian Husky. Buddy is a very, very good natured and gentle boy, but just like all Huskies, needs a lot of exercise to keep him happy. He's a strong and energetic dog and requires long walks, hikes and runs. He ran for the first time in harness last weekend and took right to it.

His new forever home should be with experienced Husky owners where he won't be home alone for long periods of time.

LOST SIBERIAN HUSKY-19 mos old black & white w/ blue eyes, neutered, missing since April 16/2011 from Calhoun, GA. When lost he was wearing a purple collar, ID tag with the name



OHIO-Everyone please be on the lookout for our Husky, Cronos. He has on a black collar and a choker chain. He has been missing since July 3 around 6 a.m. Went missing from Elyria Ave., Lorain near Clearview HS and no one has called about him yet. He is very friendly, does jump on people when excited or nervous. He is about 70 lbs. 

Spoiled dogs!

It's that time of year again...May, when our girls Gidget and Gaia have their birthdays celebrated by us humans. Gidget turned 9 and Gaia 6 (approximately, since both are rescues) and like every year, they had their cake and ate it, too!

Actually, they shared with 17 of their best friends at Fairview Park after our weekend fun run.
The birthday cake came from our friends at Three Dog Bakery in San Clemente and is made for canine consumption. No worries fellow dog lovers, we don't feed cake made for humans to our dogs.

One more big puppy in need of a good home

After a huge response to the previous listing for an available dog, Gina from "Animal Crackers" in Laguna Beach asked me to list one more of her available puppies.

This guy is Romeo. I personally know him, have taken him on walks and watched him play with other dogs, big and small. A really, really sweet and well mannered boy. Big and strong, but so gentle.

Gina says "He is a wonderful, loving dog that loves to play with every dog he meets. He is about 1 year old, weighs about 68lbs and is full grown. Not only is he very playful with all dogs, he is especially gentle and playful with small, more "energetic" dogs. Allowing them to even bite on him during play, all without irritation. He is a little shy with strangers at first but after a few minutes, warms up nicely. In addition, his looks might give an intimidating impression, but because of his shy nature he is far from being a watchdog."

8 months old female Siberian Husky available to a good home that knows about and can take care of Huskies. Her name is Nova, she's red/white with blue eyes. She is in excellent health and has no "issues". Her current owners need to find a new home for her because of allergies.

Miranda is a black Labrador that has kept Red company while on deployment in Afghanistan. She is a sweet, lovable dog that we are trying to bring home. Another reminder: Please Rescue!

It's been a busy week, so there haven't been any news on our blog, though you can still follow us on Twitter for more frequent updates.

A quick "shout out" to our customers for keeping us busy, thank you so very much!!!

While there may be reasons for buying a puppy from a reputable(!!) breeder (see links on the right hand side of this blog) if you're into the show circuit or running dogs competitively, please remember, that if you're looking for a companion pet or a work-out buddy there are countless numbers of dogs in local shelters and at rescues, just waiting for you to give them a forever home.

All of our dogs have been rescues, and while we may not win any sled dog races, we still have a great time on the trails and the dogs truly appreciate their 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) chance at a good life.




When looking for a dog, please remember, that they will require a place to stay for the next 12-15 years (or more) and that place should be with you. Are you wiling to take a job, that allows you to still take care of your dog properly? Is your dog going to be part of the family, even if and when you have children? Should you have to move, are you willing to make sure, that your new place allows and/or is suitable for dogs? Also, if you're looking for a specific breed, please do your research. From our experience, we can tell you that there's a reason for so many Huskies to end up in shelters or rescues. Yes, they look sooo cute when they're puppies, but they do grow up eventually (sort of) and require (a lot of) exercise; more than many people are willing or able to give them.

Siberian Husky looking for new home

Great news! "Czar" found a new home and now lives with two other Huskies, gets to go on walks and to the dog park daily plus he'll get to join the SoCal "urban mushers" on their dryland and snow runs, whoohoo!
